Access Control

Electronic access control systems range in size and complexity from stand-alone models protecting a single area to organization-wide systems that encompass many buildings protecting hundreds of areas.  Commercial Entry Systems, Inc. is well versed in the entire gamut from stand-alone to large and complex implementations.

As a systems integrator, CES can offer you many access control options in order to best meet your security needs. Access control systems we currently have in place include Schlageİ Security Managment System (formerly Geoffrey Access Control), Recognition Systemsİ HandNet, SecuraKeyİ, Corbyİ, Visonicİ VisAccess, Alarm Lockİ Trilogy,LGİ Iris,  and more.

Basic access control systems act in the following manner; users or cardholders are stored on either a stand-alone mechanism or in a centralized location that interfaces with secured areas. When personnel attempt to gain access into an area, their user ID swipe- or proximity-card is referenced against those with valid access and time restrictions. Based upon the results, access is either granted or denied with some kind of log generated.

Other Access Control Components

There are other components of access control systems that can be implemented by themselves or in conjunction with other mechanisms including photo ID badging, intercom, and biometrics.

Photo ID

The first step in controlling access and personnel safety comes with proper identification. Even if access control is not or will not be used, a photo ID badging program can increase security. CES can provide a badging solution that will cover your entire organization's badging needs - creating, maintaining, and printing - all with professional quality. If your organization's badging needs are very small, CES can provide photo IDs on a per-badge basis. Click here to contact us about providing a customized badging solution.

Intercom

Intercom systems are an excellent way to obtain 24x7 security on entrances utilizing existing phone lines. They offer many features like video identification, cell phone forwarding, and the ability to remotely program. Intercom substations can also be programmed with pass-through and duress codes for tenet convenience and safety.

Biometrics

One of the most exciting components of access control is the cutting edge field of biometrics. Biometrics identifies users' unique characteristics such as hand/fingerprint geometry, iris/retinal scans, and voice recognition. Implementing any of these technologies adds a extra level of security, and especially in conjunction with proximity- or swipe-card based access control a company can have very high security dual-factor authentication, helping to maximize the security system's efficiency.
